Mariah Carey And James Packer Not Speaking After Fight

Mariah Carey's rep has confirmed that her relationship with James Packer has been rocky following a fight in Greece just over a month ago.

Carey's rep said in a statement to ET, “Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since. The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah. James is one of the most successful businessmen in the world. They are trying to work it out. Right now, they're not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future.”

TMZ reported that the couple were vacationing on his yacht at the time, and sources close to Carey claim Packer did “something really bad” involving her assistant. Mariah left the boat immediately and jetted back to LA.

A source close to Carey added to Page Six, “They've been going through a rocky time, but it is not because of her excessive spending. Mariah been working all the time and he's been out of the country taking care of his own business. They had a fight in Greece, and it isn't clear if they are going to work things out.

The source added that while they were “blindsided” by the report about their split, they had already agreed to “put their wedding on hold.”

A source close to Carey said of Packer, “James isn't in the best space mentally, he's kind of checked out, and that put a strain on their relationship. Something went down with Mariah's assistant when they were on the boat in Greece. It wasn't a violent incident, but it meant that Mariah had to leave. She left James on the boat and came home early. They haven't spoken since the incident. They are broken up, and they don't know if they'll be able to get back together. Mariah is pretty bummed it didn't work out, but she has got a lot of work to deal with at the moment, and she's back in LA with the kids — they are her priority.”

Another source said Packer and Carey split around seven weeks ago, and their split is final. The source added, “Things haven't been going well for a while. She lives in a crazy world.”

A rep for Packer said of claims from Carey sources about his mental state and of an incident involving her assistant on his boat in Greece, “This is also simply untrue.”
