The Nigeria Police has lauded Crescent University Proprietor,HE Judge Bola Ajibola for adding value to the lives of young people through establishment of his citadel of academic and moral excellence founded in 2005.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Command,DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi gave this commendation when he delivered a paper entitled " Communication and National Security" to mark the Communication Week of Mass Communication Students' Association (MACOSA) of Crescent University,Abeokuta.

Adejobi challenged higher institutions in Nigeria to contribute to the safety of the country by conducting research into issues of national security, cautioning Nigerians against celebrating terrorism through propagation of terrorist attacks in the media.

He also tasked lecturers in the country’s higher institutions of learning to conduct research on cultism, terrorism and other security issues in Nigeria with a view to nipping the menace in the bud.

On the need to play down on the reportage of the activities of criminals especially the Boko Haram,Adejobi expressed worry that “some of our reporters have been celebrating criminals at the detriment of Nigeria's image. You don’t report security issues the same way you report other issues. It is very sensitive".

The police spokesperson added that “ it is not all the time you report Boko Haram, each time you report them killing as much as possible, you are only encouraging them. I want to implore all our communicators, particularly the media, not to celebrate these terrorists".

Describing policing as the best job, in his words "police is not a bad job, it’s a very good job and it’s the only job that can give you socio-political and economic power", Adejobi reiterated.

In a related development, while hosting DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila explained how Crescent University had been in the fore-front of building the future leaders worthy in character and learning.
