The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara will, today, lead other principal officers of the National Assembly to a meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms. Christine Lagarde, who is on a four-day working visit to the country.

The meeting between the National Assembly leadership and Lagarde, billed to hold at the Senate wing, is expected to focus on the nation's economy, particularly the recent global developments and their impacts on Nigeria.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in a statement noted that falling oil price at the international market has negatively impacted the nation's oil revenue, external reserves and increased pressure on the naira at the foreign exchange market.

The meeting of the National Assembly leadership with the IMF chief will be coming after a similar one Lagarde had with President Muhammadu Buhari and other managers of the national economy earlier on.
