Adamawa Government To Clear Outstanding Allowances Owed To Civil Servants

The Governor of Adamawa state,senator Mohammadu Jibrilla Bindow assures the civil servants of the state that his administration would settle all outstanding allowances owed to civil servants in the state by the end of August.

Bindow made this known at the flag-off ceremony of 300 Housing Estate for civil servants in Yola.

It could be recalled that leave grants for civil servants as well as gratuity for retired civil servants in the state had not been paid in the last three years.

Our reporter also gathered that health workers had gone on strike for various demands, but were asked to suspend their strike at the assumption of office of the present administration.

He said that the government would complete payment of all the outstanding arrears of workers benefits owed to civil servants in December.

He appealed to the civil servants to be patient as the administration was working out modalities to settle all their demands.

He noted that civil servants were key in the development of the state, adding that the government would not undermine their contributions to the sustainability of wealth creation in the state.

``I am appealing to all the civil servants in the state to be patient with this administration.

``we have concluded modalities to commence the payment of all outstanding arrears being owed to them by the previous administration.

``We are conscious of their plight and we have resolved to clear all the backlog of their benefits between now and December.

``We will commence the payment of their areas by the end of this very month.

``I am appealing to teachers and health workers most especially to be patient with us. We have placed premium regard on our civil servants.’’

The governor urged the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to provide more loans to workers in the state to enable them own their houses.

Bindow said that his administration would reduce the housing deficit of not only the civil servants but the entire citizens of the state.

He commended the estate developers for their partnership with the state, adding that their collaborative vision would turn the state to look like London in a short possible time.

Earlier, Alhaji Gimba Kumo, Managing Director of FMBN commended the state for its vision to providing shelter to the people.

According to him, Adamawa has contributed N2.9 billion to the National Housing Fund (NHF), representing five per cent.

Kumo commended the governor for his vision to ensure that the citizens get better accommodation in the near future.

He said that his organization would support the state to achieve the vision.

In her remark, Hajia Hadiza Mohammed, Managing Director of KD Properties and estate Ltd said the administration was the first to support the initiative to reducing housing deficit in the present dispensation.

Mohammed, who is the developer of the housing estate, said that so many residents required housing but were incapacitated.

She said that the government’s gesture would go a long way in providing shelter to the people.

She said that the people would commence purchase of their houses in two months time.
