Again, Girl Suicide Bomber Rocks Potiskum Phone Market, Kills 5, Injures 46

SAN FRANCISCO, February 22, (THEWILL) – A female suicide bomber Sunday rocked a telephone and communications market in Potiskum, the biggest commercial town in Yobe State, killing five persons and injuring 46 others.

Sunday's attack was the second in the market in less than a month.

A trader at the market popularly called GSM market, Yusuf Jubrin, told THEWILL that the female suicide bomber detonated the explosives at the entrance of the market located in the heart of Potiskum town around 1:15 pm.

According to him, “We saw the girl and we became suspicious of her movement and when one of us tried to comfront her, the bomb on her went off, killing both of them and three others while several others sustained injuries and have been taken to the General Hospital in Potiskum.”

Hospital sources , craving anonymity, disclosed that five corpses from the attack were deposited at the morgue and 46 persons that were injured were brought in for treatment.

Police Public Relations officer, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, confirmed the attack but didn't have further information regarding actual number of casualties, as at the time of filing this report.
