The United States Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has invited the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, to Washington DC to speak on the February 14 presidential election.

The confirmation of this invitation to the political summit which will hold on Monday, January 26, 2015 between 2:30pm and 4pm (US time) at the Conference Room of the centre will put to rest, the rumour that the APC candidate would on Monday be going to America for a medical check-up.

Rumours have been going round that Buhari had filled a Visa form at the US Embassy in Abuja to enable him get medical attention in Washington DC next Monday, but independent investigation by our correspondent in New York shows that the retired general is only travelling to the US to honour an invitation extended to him by the CSIS.

The event tagged “Countdown to Nigeria's 2015 Elections” which will feature General Buhari, is the sixth session of the Nigeria Election Forum of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

At the forum, the APC candidate will be expected to speak on his plans for Nigeria and Nigerians as well as the certificate scandal rocking his campaigns.

Buhari is also expected to share his perspective on the major issues surrounding the national elections scheduled for mid-February in Nigeria.

The event will equally provide a rare opportunity for a Washington audience to hear Buhari as he addresses the many challenges facing Nigeria as it enters its critical election period.
