New Year: Gov Dickson Wants Prayers For The Sustenance Of The Peace And Stability Of The Nation

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Thursday urged the people of the state to remain steadfast in God and pray for peace and stability to be sustained in order to achieve the greatness God has destined for the state and the nation.

He made the call at his country home in Toru Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area of the state atan open air church service to usher in the New Year.

Congratulating the people over what he referred to as 'triumphant entry' into 2015, the Governor Dickson enjoined the people to be appreciative to God for the gift of life, describing the year as a significant one for the country.

His words: “For all of us, who are privileged to be alive by the grace of God, we are celebrating our triumphant entry into the glorious year 2015. Tonight, on behalf of the Government and good peopleof this great state, I congratulate you all for this great honour God has given to all of us and the privilege of life. And, that is why, anytime I have an opportunity to talk to people, I say that those of us, who are alive and have the privilege to serve, we should not forget that we are here to serve the people for the sake of humanity and for God, 'for he serveth God well, he who serveth man well'.”

The Governor, who said 2015 was for the children of God, who believe in what is good, stated that, the year was also for the destruction of demonic strongholds by some persons seeking political power for the wrong reasons.

He therefore called on Bayelsans to remain united and guard against agents of destabilization, who want to foment crisis to truncate the prevailing peace and development of the state.

On assumption of office in 2012, Governor Dickson said his administration dedicated the state to God and attributed the achievements recorded so far to divine intervention.

Keeping faith with the novel practice, he introduced, the governor also used the opportunity to announce the 2015 memory verse for the people of the state from the Book of Jeremiah Chapter 20 verse 11 to 12, which he considered appropriate to fortify the people against any evil.
