Abia North endorses Ogah for governor

The ambition of leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Abia State, Dr. Uche Ogah, to become the next governor of the state, received a boost yesterday, when men and youths of Abia North zone endorsed him for the office.

This is coming a few days after members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association (RTEA) and various associations and groups in the state, went into jubilation, following his clearance by the party to contest the primary election.

Leader of the Abia North delegates, Chief Pius Nwokoma, said there was no justification for the zoning of the governorship to any group.

His words: 'Only the best is good enough for the state. We have looked at all the aspirants, their antecedents and what they stand for, and realised that Dr. Ogah stands out. That is the reason we are supporting him.

'Even though we are from Abia North, a zone that believes this is its turn to produce the governor, but on a second thought, it occurred to us that merit should not be sacrificed on the altar of zoning or rotation. Only the best is good for Abia. The state has suffered and it needs urgent deliverance and the deliverer is Dr. Ogah.'

Speaking, Ogah, who is the CEO of Masters Energy Ltd, said he was overwhelmed and humbled by their support, especially coming from a zone that wants to produce the next governor.

He promised to make Abia the envy of all states, in terms of development, if given the mandate.
