THE youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state has declared that support for the 2015 presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan.

While acknowledging the fact that the President is running under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and not APC, the youths said they decided to back Jonathan because of what they described as his resilience and tolerance for opposition parties.

However the APC youths pointed out that “we are only going to support President Jonathan because he is our brother from the South South, but not the PDP in Edo state. We are going to work for the victory of APC candidates in Edo state both in 2015 and 2016 because we gave the PDP opportunity in Edo state and for ten years they did not achieve anything for our people before God gave us Oshiomhole”.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, Comrade Tony Kabaka Adun, assured that the youths of the state will mobilize for President Jonathan's success in 2015, adding that “unlike most PDP leaders in this state, the President is tolerant and he is doing his best to tackle the insecurity in the state. He is our son from the South South and we want him to continue for another term”.

Adun further commended the leadership qualities of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in the state, saying that “despite what the PDP in Edo state are trying to do to distract him from doing his good work, our Comrade Governor has remained focused. And we will continue to support him and whoever he will hand over to. Oshiomhole has given the youths of Edo state hope, he made us responsible and not those who never regarded us in the past.

He also hailed the emergence of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as the National Chairman of the APC, saying that his emergence was “the manifestation of the internal democracy being practiced in APC and we urge him to bring all aggrieved members together”.
