PDP Publicity Secretaries Hail President Jonathan, Muazu, Metuh For Exemplary Leadership

SAN FRANCISCO, April 03, (THEWILL) - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zonal and Publicity Secretaries have hailed the exemplary leadership qualities of President Goodluck Jonathan,the party's chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu, and the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in steering the affairs of the ruling party.

They stated this at the national retreat for PDP Zonal and Publicity Secretaries which held between March 30 - April 1 at the Banquet Hall, Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa.

The Bayelsa State Governor, Hon.
Seriake Dickson, had earlier commended the publicity arm of the party for stoutly defending and improving image of the party despite what he described as the serial distortion and deliberate misinformation by the opposition.

He however charged the publicity secretaries to live up to the challenge of projecting the achievements of the Federal Government which, according to him, were largely under-reported.

After two days of rich deliberations during which eminent resource persons presented papers, the PDP Zonal and State Publicity Secretaries, In a communiqué signed by the Chairman, Communique Committee, Prof.

Rufai Ahmed Alkali and Secretary, Nwachukwu Ngige, the secretaries, commended the National Chairman, Muazu on his emergence and applauded the firm steps the National Working Committee under his leadership has been taking to reposition the PDP.

They also commended President Jonathan ,who despite unwarranted attacks and distractions from the opposition, has remained focused in his commitment to transform Nigeria.

The retreat further commended his steadfastness to bringing a lasting solution to the lingering insurgency in parts of the country as well as his determination for a strong, united and peaceful Nigeria through the on-going national conference.

Furthermore, it commended the Bayelsa State, governor, Dickson, for hosting and providing an enabling environment for the success of the programme.

The retreat condemned in no uncertain terms, the attitude of the opposition who have been engaging in frivolous and unnecessary grandstanding over critical issues that affect the welfare of the people and the future of the nation.

It cited in particular, the refusal of the APC to participate in the national conference despite the over a decade-long campaign by its leaders for a national dialogue.

For an effective and authoritative anchoring of the publicity machinery of the party, the retreat recommended that the publicity secretaries should be integrated into the cardinal organs of the party.

In the same vein, the retreat resolved that all publicity secretaries at different levels be empowered and properly positioned for an effective discharge of their responsibilities while calling on the national leadership to further organise similar retreats at other levels .

The zonal and state publicity secretaries finally commended the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, for convening the retreat, in addition to the proactive manner he has been handling the publicity of the party.

Tony Caesar Okeke.
Others are the Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Senator Ayogu Eze who also served as Chairman Senate Committee on Information, the Special Adviser to the President on Public Affairs, Dr.

Doyin Okupe and his new media counterpart, Reno Omokri, Also at the retreat which was organised by the office of the PDP National Publicity Secretary in collaboration with the International Republican Institute (IRI) were former Director General of the Peoples Democratic Institute of the PDP, Dr.

Anthony Ubani, a professional political party communication expert, Christine Burtt and the IRI Nigeria Resident Country Director, Robina Namusisi.
