Seek radical overhaul of security agencies BEVERLY HILLS, CA, March 31, (THEWILL) - The foremost Ijaw youth organisation, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), worldwide, has described Sunday's failed jailbreak in Abuja as an act of sabotage.

Alleging that the security personnel in charge may have been compromised, the IYC called for a total overhaul of the nation's security machinery.

The Ijaw youths further alleged that there may be saboteurs within the country's security forces who are actively aiding the activities of Boko Haram.

The radical Ijaw youth group alleged that the purported foiled Boko Haram jailbreak attack at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, near the presidential villa, was a clear sabotage against the Federal Government.

IYC however vowedf to resist vehemently any attempt on the life of President Goodluck Jonathan, warning that Nigeria wouldn't survive if there is any attempt on the president's life.

They alleged further that Boko Haram is only acting out a script to make the government ungovernable for Jonathan.

They alleged that the saboteurs within the security circles were aiding anti-government fighters with information and other logistics.

In a statement entitled; 'Shoot out at DSS Headquarters, Near Presidential Villa, Aso Rock Abuja: A Case of Sabotage', IYC called for a massive overhaul of the security agencies.

It described the attack ascribed to the Boko Haram insurgents as a "joke taken too far".

IYC's spokesman, Eric Omare, said although there are conflicting reports to the Sunday incident, indications are clear that the attackers were out to overrun the seat of power, querying the effrontery to which the insurgents confronted DSS personnel at their stronghold.

There is no explanation for Boko Haram members having the effrontery to confront security agencies for more than three hours at the heavily fortified DSS headquarters, very close to the Presidential Villa, nation's seat of power.

Though there are conflicting accounts of what actually transpired or led to the shoot out.

However, irrespective of the cause of the unfortunate incident, the IYC, Worldwide wishes to say that "the conflicting accounts of the incident clearly shows that this is another case of sabotage against the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The IYC notes that there have been reports of countless cases of security agencies taking positions on Boko Haram and before the plans are carried out, the security information would leak to Boko Haram members.

There have also been reported cases of military checkpoints being removed few minutes to Boko Haram attacks without any response from the security agencies until Boko Haram members would have completed their attacks.

The Yobe attack on the Federal Government College easily comes to mind.

The IYC is aware that President Goodluck Jonathan appreciates the fact that there are Boko Haram apologists in his government including within the security forces.

However, it is not enough for Mr.
President to note the infiltration of Boko Haram into his government; he must take drastic steps to address the issue.

Therefore, the IYC calls on the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan to carry out a massive overhaul of the security agencies to identity Boko Haram moles within the security agencies and fish them out immediately.

The IYC wishes to warn that no nation can win a battle whether against terrorism or of any kind in a situation in which the insurgents are actively aided by insiders.

History tells us that infiltration of enemies into an opponent's camp has led to nations losing war.

Furthermore, the IYC regards the attack very close to the Presidential Villa, housing President Goodluck Jonathan and his family as a threat to the life of Mr.

President.
We wish to warn the sponsors of Boko Haram that this is a joke taken too far.

"The IYC would vehemently resist any attempt on or threat to the life of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Nigeria cannot survive any attempt on the life of President Jonathan.

Boko Haram members and their sponsors are warned!"
