Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Abubakar on Friday honoured Area 'E' Commander, Mr. Daniel Okoro, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) with a 24 karat merit gold medal award for his excellent and credible performance in Nigeria police.

The award ceremony which was performed at Nigerian Police College, Ikeja, Lagos during the Pull-Out Parade of seven senior police officers, no fewer than 100 police officers were also honoured by the IGP with Dan Okoro being the only high ranking officer among them.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that Abubakar has decided to revamp the award ceremony to honour police officers who performed creditably in their duties after thirty six years suspension of the ceremony.

Before this award, Okoro who had excelled as an intelligent police officer and a crime fighter of repute in the police force was also honoured recently by President Goodluck Jonathan for soaring so high above his contemporaries in investigations, discipline and dedications.

His hand shake with the number one citizen which is worth billion dollars began when he rejected a whopping bribe sum of N15 million purportedly offered to him by one of the suspects in the celebrated murder of Cynthia Osukogu, the only daughter of a retired Army General via a face book relationship. He made the Nigeri, nay African police proud in the commity of nations by his singular act of rejecting the mouth watering offer and busting the clueless murder with dexterity.

It would also be recalled that a group under the aegis of Security Watch Africa on November 8th, 2013 in Johannesburg, South-Africa conferred an award of the “Most Outstanding Police Investigator in West-Africa” on Dan Okoro for his role towards crime fighting in the sub-region.
