6,000 benefit from Kano free surgery -Commissioner

Kano State Government says it is offering free medical surgeries to 6,000 patients in the state.


Dr Abubakar Labaran, the Commissioner for Health, said this on Friday while inspecting facilities at Sheikh Jidda General Hospital in Fagge area of Kano metropolis, where the surgeries would be conducted.


He said that programme was being put together under the Kwankwasiyya Medical Mission, adding that different surgical ailments would be handled during the exercise.


He said that the exercise, which would last for two weeks, would be conducted and supervised by the ministry of health.


The commissioner said that the programme was part of effort to assist the less-privileged persons suffering from Hernia, Hydrocile, Fibroid, Lipoma, among other ailments.


Labaran expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations by the medical team for the exercise and urged people in the state to take advantage of the opportunity


He said that the screening of patients for the surgeries had already commenced. NAN
