The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it still maintains its earlier position that the purported passage of the State 2014 budget outside the legislative chambers of the State House of Assembly by a few lawmakers loyal to Gov Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi remains illegal, null and void, of no effect.

The party in a statement signed by its Special Adviser, Media to the State Chairman, Jerry Needam has therefore warned that any dealings with Gov Amaechi by any agencies, persons or groups including banks and financial institutions in respect of the illegal 2014 budget are also illegal and are doing so at their own risk.

Gov Amaechi, the party notes cannot have any other reason for the gross disregard for the Supreme Court judgement on the illegality and nullity of a State legislature to conduct its proceedings out the constitutionally approved chamber than to access more State funds to sponsor the All Progressives Congress, APC.

To show how desperate Amaechi is about frittering way the State resources because of the People's stiff opposition to his style of leadership, he has also continued to ask for another N100 billion loan besides the over a trillion naira already collected, the PDP regrets.

“This has proved that we are not just crying wolf that the State is broke despite Amaechi's shameless denials, yet he is leaving no stone unturned in grabbing monies belonging to the state from all sources. We shall continue to stand against this broad-day roguery because we are all stakeholders and cannot remain silent in the face of this daring provocation by Amaechi and a few lawmakers and persons who are encouraging him so as to line their own pockets,” the PDP stressed.

The party its therefore calling on the Federal Government and money lending agencies within and outside the country not to guarantee and, or grant any further loans to Gov Amaechi in whatever guise on behalf of Rivers State as doing so under the present circumstance is not only illegal but also criminal to encourage him.

“To be forewarned is to be forearmed”, the PDP declared.
