IBB Movement, a group advancing the political interest of former president, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd) has called on Nigerians to support the ex-military leader for 2011 presidential election. The National Chairman of the group, Chief Sikiru Jimoh, made the call at the inaugural meeting of the movement in Lagos.

Jimoh who spoke through the National Secretary, Chief Douglas Ogbonna said only Babangida could consolidate the nation's democracy and move the country forward at this material time.

According to him, 'it is only IBB we have envisaged after thorough cogitations, prayers and enquiries that can salvage and consolidate this hard earned democracy, which God has used some well meaning Nigerians including former President Olusegun Obasanjo to establish.'

He added that 'what we need as a nation, is a fortified, durable and sustainable democracy where rule of law and suitable electoral law shall thrive and swell.'

Jimoh said his group strongly believes that the former military leader would be able to achieve those objectives for the country.

Besides, the IBB Movement president said his group has observed with dismay the level of insecurity, poverty and absence of basic amenities like electricity and good hospitals in the country and strongly believe that a Babangida presidency will address the myriad of economic and social problem confronting the nation.

Consequently, he said Nigerians should embrace Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which Babangida would likely contest the 2011 presidential election.
