Shekau Releases New Video, Promises More Havoc
Leader of the Boko Haram Islamist sect, Abubakar Shekau has again released a video, the second in a matter of days, promising to 'decapitate and mutilate' more people in the name of Allah.
Shekau also directed invectives at the United States of America, which placed a bounty on his head earlier in the year and branded him a global terrorist.
'Brothers pulverised 21 armoured tanks. People were killed in their multitudes, bodies scattered all over. [We] blew out the brains of soldiers who tried to hide under their blankets', he said.
'Had Allah allowed us to eat them, we would have eaten them but we are not cannibals. This is a victory from Allah'.
Seated on a mat and flanked by masked fighters, Shekau filmed footages of the 20th December 2013 attack on a tank battalion barracks in Bama, Borno State, where buildings, fighter jets and armed were burning, while masked men walking around them. Among those dead in the attack were soldiers, women and children.
The Military refrained from confirming the casualty figure from the attack but subsequently claimed that 56 terrorists were killed in ground and air raids on the attackers. Sources also say that some civilians across four villages were killed in the process.
'As for killing, we will kill, because Allah says we should decapitate, we should amputate limbs; we should mutilate', he said, before adding, 'We do not worship money; you can't in any way harm me' in an apparent mockery of the $7 million placed on his head by the U.S and $312,500 by the Nigerian government.
