Twenty-seven out of 30 members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly have decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Mr Malami Basakkwace, said that the lawmakers took a unanimous decision to follow Governor Aliyu Wamako to the APC.

'Since the defection of the governor, people from our constituencies mounted pressure on us to follow the governor,' he told Channels Television.

Those decamped include the speaker of the house and most of the principal officers of the house.

Meanwhile, sources from the Sokoto State Government House said that the lawmakers were at the house early on Wednesday to inform the governor about their decamping.

The defection of PDP members to APC started in November when 5 aggrieved governors of the PDP, including Wamako, joined the APC.
