2015: Sambo supporters hail Jonathan’s affirmation of joint ticket

By The Citizen

A group Democratic Advancement Option (DAO), has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for putting the All Progressive Congress (APC) to shame, by affirming that Jonathan/Sambo joint ticket remains intact should he decide to run for 2015 elections.

DAO in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Abdullahi Garba, was reacting to an interview granted by the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, who said Jonathan will choose Sambo as his running mate again.

The Group said, this affirmation has proved to the opposition that nothing in their desperation will derail, the Jonathan/Sambo ticket come 2015 should they decide to run as backed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Gulak was quoted to have said the gale of defections was not potent enough to adversely affect the PDP fortunes in Kaduna and Nigeria in general.

Gulak specially said, “I can tell you without mincing words that no serious-minded member of the PDP has defected from the PDP in Kaduna in particular and the nation in general.

“As vice president of the country and having been elected on the platform of the PDP with the president who is the leader of the party, Sambo is the deputy leader of the PDP who enjoys the desired support of all members.

“That aside, the President and his vice are like 5 and 6 and nothing can separate them. If eventually Mr. President listens to the clamour of Nigerians for him to again present himself in 2015, which I am sure he will, I can assure you that he would run with Sambo as his vice because there is no need for any change. This is more so that Sambo has the support of the entire north and the region is solidly behind him”.

The group came down heavily on   the interim APC chairman in Kaduna State, Hakeem Baba Ahmed, accusing him of engaging in distortion of facts and feeding the public with false information for selfish political gains.

DAO, which commended the APC members of the State House of Assembly for passing a vote of no confidence on Hakeem Baba Ahmed, added that it was a shame that while only 13 persons defected to APC in the State with over 500 defections to PDP, the APC’s chieftain went to town with a figure of one thousand PDP decampees in order to paint a picture of Sambo losing grip of his state politically.

The Group listed the names of those who defected to include: Rt. Hon. Lawal Garba (DK), Rt. Hon. Aliyu Haruna, Hon. Ahamed Mou’d Umar, Hon. Yunusa Kabir Durbirni, Ali Moja, Hon. Aminu Adam, Hon. Adamu Idris, Labaran Umar, Alhaji Samalia Maishadda, Abdullaji Moh’d, Umar Yaro Makama, Moh’d Dahiru Umar and Moh’d Balarabe.

DAO said it was clear the APC were ready to go to any length to paddle falsehood in their desperation to grab power by hook or crook, calling on Nigerians particularly those in Kaduna state not to fall on their trap, insisting that the PDP was still the party to beat come 2015.
