Sen. Igbeke Leads Nsugbe Community to APGA, Endorses Obiano

A former Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District on the platform of PDP, Senator Alphonsus Igbeke, aka Ubanese yesterday formally decamped to All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and declared his support for the gubernatorial candidate, Chief Willie Obiano alongside members of his community at a very impressive ceremony adorned with pomp and ceremony in Nsugbe, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Speaking at the square amidst drums and dancing by prominent sons and daughters of the Nsugbe community, Sen. Igbeke said that his developmental and youth empowerment projects for his people are well known and documented, and that the achievement of the APGA government led by His Excellency Governor Peter Obi is also glaring for all to see in some parts of the community. He also noted that Governor Obi is on his way out having done well and needs another competent person to continue the good work. According to Sen Igbeke, “that person is Chief Willie Obiano and I want everyone to support and Vote for him on 16th November 2013 and I can assure you that he is a man of action who will sustain the progress in all communities in Anambra State.”

Sen. Igbeke also said that after watching the trend of events and crisis in Anambra PDP, coupled with his desire for peace to continue to reign in the State, he decided to pitch his tent with the most progressive party in Anambra State so as to continue to serve his people. “We cannot afford to allow people who do not know how we live to dictate for us,” Sen. Igbeke opined and subsequently raised the hand of Chief Obiano to the delight of the crowd.

Addressing the large gathering of Nsugbe indigenes, Chief Obiano expressed delight at the overwhelming reception and support of the people of Nsugbe and described Sen. Igbeke as a good friend and brother. In a touch of drama, Obiano asked the people whether Governor Obi had kept his promises to them, and they answered “Yes.” He then assured them that he would surpass the developments that were cited in Nsugbe community.

Earlier, the national Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh had welcomed Sen. Igbeke into the APGA family which he said guarantees Ndigbo their voice in the scheme of things in Nigeria. He explained that the quest for continuity in Anambra is a clarion call for development, peace and progress which should interest every great Igbo son like the distinguished Senator Igbeke.

He expressed his delight at the out-pouring of support from members of the community, and urged them to go out on November 16, 2013 and vote for APGA and Chief Willie Obiano, who he described as the most credible and capable amongst the lot contesting to govern Anambra State.

The event attracted APGA chieftains and prominent sons and daughters of Nsugbe and environ.
