FG withdraws sponsorship of 6 students in Russia

President Goodluck Jonathan has withdrawn sponsorship for six Niger-Delta students at the Peoples Friendship University in Moscow, Russia.

The students are part of the 24-student delegates studying in the university under a special scholarship scheme for Niger Delta youths.

The students were found to be part of a group of students that attacked the Nigerian embassy in Moscow, on Monday.

And for going on rampage and violently attacking the Nigerian mission, the government says these students breached the code of conduct for delegates on scholarship that they signed before their departure from Nigeria'.

He described their action as gross misconduct, which the Nigerian government cannot tolerate.

The students said they had gone on rampage because they were owed their in-training allowance for six months.
