NULGE, MUSHIN COUNCIL MANAGER AT LOGGERHEADS

By NBF News

A major crisis is brewing at Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State between the employees and the council manager, Mrs Ronke Bello, over alleged highhandedness and administrative deceit.

It was gathered that the workers under the aegis of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has since Friday last week locked out the council manager from her office while demanding that she should be relieved of her position.

The workers are specially irked by the attitude of the council manager over what they described as her 'cunning' and dishonest ways of handling the council affairs.

They alleged that she had completely sidelined the union in the running of affairs of the council and instead aligned with the council Chairman, Mr. Olatunde Babatunde Adepitan, to share the bounties of the council.

The union, it was further learnt, have vowed not to relent in their resolve until the council manager is chased away from the council and as a result has mobilized all its members to join in the struggle.

When contacted, Adepitan, confirmed that there was a face-off between the union and the council manager and that the state government has already intervened just as he exonerated himself of any wrongdoing.

'There was a protest but the ministry is looking into it. The matter is before the local government commission', he said.

He, however, stated that despite the protest by the workers, the administration of council has not been affected in anyway.

'Everything is going on smoothly at the council. You can come around on Monday to see for yourself', the council boss said.
