Augustus Aikhomu is dead

Huhuonline.com can disclose that Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, Nigeria's former Chief of General Staff and military Vice-President, is dead.Aikhomu, the former second citizen of Nigeria, died today in Lagos, after a protracted battle with cancer.

His death coincided with the 70th birthday of his former boss, Ibrahim Babangida.

Aikhomu, a native of Irrua in Edo State, was a retired Admiral in the Nigerian Navy and also served the country as Vice President during the Ibrahim Babangida military regime from 1986 to 1993.
