CLINCHES YOBE WITH 337.537 VOTES

In Yobe State, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) polled 337,537 votes representing 50.9 per cent of the total votes of 662,917 votes cast. The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) scored 143,179 votes (21.5 per cent) followed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 117,128 votes (17.6 percent).

The scores for the various political parties that contested in the state were presented by the Collation Officer for the Presidential Election in the state, Professor Emeritus Jiddah Gadzama at the INEC headquarters in Damaturu on Sunday.

According to the presentation, ACN got 6,069 votes; ADC, 3,230; APS, 2,263; ARP, 548; BNPP, 1,870; Fresh, 1,061; HDP, 426; LDNP, 218; NPP, 452; NCP, 7,002; MNPP, 1,182; and NTP made away with 669 votes. PDC polled 1,885 votes; PNP, 1,384; PPP, 1,395; SDNP, 320; and UNDP with 597 votes.

Gadzama announced that 1,270,252 electorates were registered in the state, but that 662,913 electorates voted. There were 40,789 ballots that were invalid according to him while 622,115 votes were valid.

However, the turnout of electorate for the presidential election in thestate was low compared to that of the parliamentary elections, although the conduct has been peaceful generally across the state.
