Jos returnee arrested for armed robbery in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a returnee from the crisis-prone city of Jos, Plateau State, Alhaji Mudashiru Ibrahim in connection with a case of armed robbery.

The suspect was arrested at about 11.30pm, on Tuesday night while he was allegedly robbing a major provision shop located in the neighborhood in Sauna, Dakata, on the outskirts of the state capital.

Police sources told Daily Sun that the suspect was picked up after he allegedly used a locally-made gun to force the shop owner to part with an undisclosed sum of money, adding that he was arrested in the course of the operation.

It was gathered that while the suspect was robbing the shop, an undisclosed source alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Dakata, Rabiu Musa, a superintendent, and leader of the patrol team, both of whom mobilised their officers to the scene.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Magaji Majia (ASP), confirmed the failed robbery attempt. He explained that the suspect had recently returned from Jos to Kano, adding that his parents were residents in the same nieghbourhood.

Majia told the Daily Sun that investigation into matter wan still in progress, promising to t brief the press in detail at a future date. adding that He said the suspect was cooperating with the police in its investigations.

Majia also pleaded with the public to continue collaborating with the police in its efforts to crack down on criminals in the state even as he pledged that the police hadresolved to stamp out criminals in the state.
