Menstrual Hygiene Day: Sopulu Onyibor Foundation Honours Day, Distributes Free Pad

Every year on May 28th, the world celebrates the menstrual hygiene day. In line with this year's theme, " Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030," Sopulu Onyibor Foundation took to its annual campaign to the numerous secondary schools in Awka to embark on its 2nd edition of "Pad A Girl 2.0, with target of giving 1000 girls a pad. "

So far the schools visited included, State Model Secondary Schools and Kenneth Dike Secondary Schools while others would be visited later.

At State Model Secondary school located at Ngozika Housing estate,

the principal of the school, Mrs. Augustina Udensi expressed delight on the programme saying that such kindness is key to a better society.

The students of the school were joyful with the visit as well as the gifts from the foundation.

At Kenneth Dike Secondary Schools, the head teacher, Mrs. Ebere Orji was filled with excitement at the initiative. She emphasized the essence of giving back to society as scriptural and a moral compass to shaping lives for a better tomorrow.

The founder of the initiative Sopulu Onyibor explained his vision to reach out to female children especially those in secondary schools. He addressed the need to educate the girl-child especially on issues on personal hygiene. He called on all stakeholders to support the vision for a greater impact

A member of the team, Onyekachukwu Delphi Okonkwo also known as celebrity driver said he is elated as the programme is geared towards creating the cleanliness consciousness in students, informing and educating the girl-child. According to him, educating a woman is a necessity to a nation's progress.

Another member of the foundation, Ifunanya Stephanie said the 'Pad a Girl child' project was timely and provides a platform to inform and educate them.

'Pad a Girl child' is an annual programme by Sopulu Onyibor Foundation. The project was birthed to provide mentorship, inform and educate the girl-child on personal hygiene as well as distribute free sanitary pads to them.
