Kabiru Is The New 6th Adamawa Assembly Speaker

The long expected who became the speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly has laid to rest as Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa APC Yola South has yesterday emerged the speaker of the 6th Adamawa House of Assembly after he defeated his lone rival Rufai Umar APC Gombi.

Mijinyawa and Umar are the major two contendents yesterday,Kabiru polled 17 votes out of the 25 votes cast to defeats Umar who scored 8 votes.

Mr Sunday Peter emerged unopposed as the Deputy Speaker when nobody seconded the nomination of Mrs Sodomti Tayedi (APC- Numan) to contest the position with him.

Addressing the House after taking oath of office, the Speaker, Kabiru Mijinyawa, thanked them for voting him and promised to carry everybody along.

He noted that under him, the problem of sour relationship between the legislative arm and executive that characterize successive regimes in the state is over.

Also addressing the House, Gov Mohammed Jibrilla, who witnessed the inauguration congratulated the new members particularly the Speaker and Deputy Speaker and assured them of the executive support.

Jibrilla sais as a former lawmaker he would work for synergy between the executive and legislative arm.
