Daniel Snatches Late Winner
Port Vale substitute Colin Daniel blasted a 93rd-minute goal to clinch his side a trilling 2-1 victory against Gillingham.
Daniel drove a low left-footed shot inside visiting goalkeeper Stuart Nelson's left-hand post from 14 yards after excellent work by Adam Yates and Mark Marshall.
The visitors should have taken the lead in their first attack in the fourth minute when Ben Dickenson fired over with the goal at his mercy.
But Vale striker Ben Williamson also squandered a gilt-edged chance before he did put his side ahead in the 11th minute.
Williamson showed Aaron Morris a clean pair of heels down the left before cutting into the box to strike a low right-footed shot from 10 yards inside the near post.
Gillingham's response was impressive and an equalising goal was overdue by the time Cody McDonald struck his ninth of the season in the 31st minute.
Bradley Dack took advantage of Richard Duffy's mistake to free McDonald, who slotted a low right-footed shot inside Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal's right-hand post from 12 yards.
It was Vale's turn to get back on top in the opening stages of the second half when Louis Dodds, Marsall and Dany N'Guessan all went close.
But ex-Vale skipper Doug Loft was inches away for the visitors in the 63rd minute when his left-footed shot shook the crossbar.
Gillingham will feel they deserved a draw, but what would have been an important point was snatched away by Daniel with just seconds remaining.
