Even though reports stated that former chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, stepped don his governorship ambition temporarily, Kano state governor and presidential aspirant under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Engr. Muhammad Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso has insisted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made Ribadu who was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), a laughing stock.

Pointblanknews.com reports that Ribadu recent decamped from APC to PDP in pursuit of his governorship ambition in Adamawa state.

He as given an option by the PDP leadership to withdraw from the bye-election and contest the 2015 gubernatorial election under the umbrella of the party, but Kwankwaso has insisted that, “PDP has now made Nuhu Ribadu to be a laughing stock among PDP stakeholders in Adamawa state after the party dumped him in its recent gubernatorial primaries.

“After he left the APC for the PDP, his new party did not find him worthy of its gubernatorial ticket. I am sure the PDP stakeholders in Adamawa are now laughing at him. We sympathise with him.”

In a recent interview with Kwankwaso which was published in Pointblanknews.com just few days before Nuhu Ribadu left APC for PDP, Kwankwaso warned: “Well, I have heard the rumour and we read it in newspapers and watch it on the television; and I don't want to believe that that is correct or that is true. But    I want to say that if that becomes a reality–it is, indeed, a big disappointment for Nigerians. People ordinarily will think that my brother, Nuhu Ribadu is a principled person; somebody with good ideology, somebody who is a progressive; somebody who is always working towards the unity of this country; and above all, I remember during his days as the chairman of EFCC, he has done so much to deal with corruption.

“As we are moving deep into democracy, water is taking its level, people are moving in and out of parties, meaning that people with similar ideologies are coming together; unlike 1998/99 when we were forming parties to deal with the military and install democracy, everybody from all ideological tendencies came together. Now that we have gone deep into democracy, we are looking at our shoulders to say who is close to who and who is on the other side; and that was why some of us left the PDP to join our brothers and sisters who have the same ideology with us–and that is to bring about the desired change in this country.

“Now, for him (Nuhu Ribadu) who was, in my opinion, in the right place and together with the progressives, if he should just leave because he is looking for position or he is looking for a ticket to contest election, I don't think that is good for him and I don't think that is good for the country. At the end of the day, if that happens, God forbid, he will be the biggest loser.

“He will lose because he joined a group that most of them were jailed by him. I don't think they will ever want to see him there but in politics, there is this accommodation of people that they will bring you close, raise you up and dump you. At the end of the day, they will laugh at you and say, look at him now.

“If Ribadu is joining PDP, whether he wins election or not, he will be the biggest loser. People can't believe that all what we said about him was completely wrong. The biggest punishment for a politician is for him to be in a wrong place; because if he goes there, by the time they are talking about how to share $20 billion, I don't think he will be happy if he is the kind of person I use to know; unless he was just deceiving all of us. I don't think Nuhu Ribadu will make that mistake because if he does, it will be the biggest political mistake of his life.”

Kwankwaso on Thursday reiterated his views on Ribadu's defection and he said it while collecting two awards to boost up his presidential campaign.

Kwankwaso received awards from APC Kwankwasiyya Amana, Bauchi state chapter; and Nigeria 774 Kwankwasiyya Merger: Kwankwaso for President, at the Government House yesterday in Kano.

Gov. Kwankwaso however called on the Adamawa electorate to think wisely and vote for the APC candidate in the impending gubernatorial election in the state considering the hardships caused to the state by PDP central government.

He appealed to them to pay back good for good, urging them to dump PDP and vote for APC which is ready to bring about positive and realistic changes in the whole country.

“Anybody who voted for PDP, which within five years could not lead the nation rightly has deceived himself,” lamented the governor, pointing out that APC has come up with a credible candidate in person of Senator Muhammad Jibrila Bindaw who can salvage Adamawa state.

He alleged that the Adamawa state PDP chose a candidate whom most of their supporters see as incompetent, hoping that people in the state should opt for APC, describing it as the best party in Nigeria.

Earlier, chairmen of the NGOs Murtala Abdullahi Dass and Habu Ibrahim Fagge appealed to Kwankwaso to declare for the presidential seat come 2015, assuring him of mobilizing Nigerians to support him.

Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso has thanked the state APC stakeholders' effort in mobilizing people across the nation to support his presidential aspiration come 2015 general election.

The governor, during a meeting with them, said that most of the people he met at the APC Northwest rally in Sokoto told him that the message has reached them and they are in support of the aspiration. He, therefore, urged the stakeholders to continue enlightening Nigerians until the APC wins the 2015 general elections. He also reiterated that he's still consulting on the 2015 presidential contest and he will make his decision known to the general public very soon.
