Explosions Rock Ile Ife

It appears Boko Haram has found its way into the deep south as two explosions rocked the quiet city of Ile Ife, Osun State on Tuesday  .

 
Although no life was lost in the explosion, it was gathered that property worth millions of naira were destroyed.

The  two explosive devices reportedly planted in two strategic locations at Agbedegbede area of the town exploded at 5.30 a.m. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Maishanu, according to sources, had visited the scene of the bomb blast.

The bomb was said to have affected a house in the area, damaging the roof of the building. It was also learnt that explosive devices were detected by the anti-bomb unit of the state Police Command, as members of the unit combed the area.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Maishanu, confirmed the incident.

He said the state police command would reinforce security in all parts of the state, urging residents to continue with their activities peacefully.

Meanwhile, Osun State Government has condemned the explosion that rocked Ile-Ife, describing it as unfortunate.

The state commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Sunday Akere, urged the people of the state to remain calm, saying the government would not allow any threat to the peace of the state.
