Abia state Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has been warned against supporting any governorship aspirant linked to his predecessor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu as his tenure draws to an end.

The group, Movement for Abia Unity and Progress (MAUP) who stated this through a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Francis Eme and National Secretary, Chidiebere Ogbonnaya, respectively and made available to Pointblanknews.com in Umuahia, said it would be in the best interest of the state to block any aspirant linked to the former governor from the Abia Government House in 2015.

The group commended Gov. Orji for his wisdom in breaking out from the yoke of the Kalu's family as the state would have been grounded

“Abia suffered from governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu's rudderless administration with nothing to show in eight years. He brought confusion in the state by manipulating people, communities and political blocs against each other. This is the main reason why all the stakeholders of the state are against his return to the PDP. Gov. Theodore Orji has redirected the ship of Abia state to the path of development as witnessed by the legacy projects he has built and the uniting of all stakeholders. As his administration is about completing its tenure, we are appealing to him not to hand over to any aspirant linked to Orji Uzor Kalu because it will bring back the era of divisions and acrimony in Abia state as personified by the former governor. We are aware that some of the aspirants to the governorship positions are agents to Orji Uzor Kalu, they wine and dine with him at night and condemn him during the day. To them, if handed over power, it will take less than one month for Orji Uzor Kalu to return and rubbish all Gov. Theodore Orji has achieved in his tenure. Abia state would once again return to the days of locust, “the group said.

MAUP also called on Gov. Orji to search out and hand over to new breed politicians who will easily identify with his vision of development rather than recycling those who are holding or have held government positions with nothing to show.

The group further said it will soon make public a list of governorship aspirants who were former associates of the former governor who have been pleading with him to lie low and support them to get power as they would not forget what he did for them.

According to the group,” In this class of governorship aspirants were those who held influential positions in Reality Organization, the political structure of the Kalu dynasty; the Classic Front International founded by Kalu's younger brother and former Rep. Member, Nnanna Uzor Kalu; a leading former member of Classic Front International who held deputy speakership position is still in government as well as a former deputy governor in his administration. We will soon make the list public with mode of their contacts to Orji Uzor Kalu and their emissaries.   Gov. Orji must act now if he wishes to witness a peaceful Abia after his tenure.
