The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi plans to embark on biometric registration of members as part of its membership drive, according to an official.

Mr Chaka Nweze, the Interim Secretary of the party in the state, told newsmen in Abakaliki on Wednesday that the move would ensure that relevant information about members were captured to ensure their authenticity.

'The members of the defunct parties that now make up the APC will all be jostling to be registered, including intending individuals who want to identify with the repositioning ideals of the party,' he said.

The secretary noted that the registration would follow a stipulated guideline that would be strictly adhered to for a successful exercise.

'The process will emanate from the polling units to the wards, local governments and then to the state level.

'We want to ensure that individuals who want to identify with us across the state are duly registered.

He noted that the seven-man state executive appointed on Dec.13, 2013 was inaugurated on Jan.18 with the mandate of articulating activities of the party in the state for successes in forthcoming elections.

'All the leadership squabbles formerly existing in the party have been resolved. The members are aware of the onerous challenges it would face in realising its ambitions in the state,' he said.
