Rivers PDP Applauds Ogonis On Peaceful March Against Sen. Abe’s Claim Of Shooting

By Rivers PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State Chapter today, Wednesday 15, 2014, lauded the youths and people of Ogoni and the Rivers South-East Senatorial District for their show of courage, resounding wisdom and peaceful disposition as they protest against the claim by the Senator representing the area, Sen. Magnus Abe, that he was shot by the Police, Sunday, January 12, 2014 at an event in Port Harcourt.

The Party says it is pleased that the Ogoni youths were able to contain and manage the protest march in Bori, the headquarters of the Senatorial District, even when it involved a huge crowd of thousands of participants.

The PDP commended the people for standing for justice even in the face of intimidation by some Rivers State Government stooges in the area, saying that today's action of the people has further confirmed their wisdom and integrity as the foundation of their globally applauded struggle for justice entails.

The party also says the Ogoni peoples action today has further vindicated and strengthened its position that the Senator's claims are blatant lies and gimmick.

While calling on the Police to receive the people's action as an unalloyed solidarity, the party also charges them to continue to dispense their responsibilities in most civilized and professional manner as the force is today seen to be doing in the state under the able leadership of, Mbu Joseph Mbu, the Commissioner of Police.
