Anambra guber polls: 23 aspirants fight for PDP ticket
Ahead of the November election in Anambra State, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is set to rake over one hundred million(N100,000,000) from sale of forms to contest for the primary election where the party's flagbearer is expected to emerge.
With the list obtained yesterday, twenty-three aspirants have picked forms. 17 of the aspirants were men while the remaining six were women.
They are Chairman, Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Emmanuel Andy Uba; Senator Emmanuel Anosike; Senator Alphonsus Ubanesse Igbeke; Nicholas Ukachukwu; Tony Okey Nwoye; former Minister of Women Affairs, Chief Josephine Anenih; Uzoh Obinna Chukwudum; Okeke Ugochukwu; Okoye Michael; Nwankpo Akachukwu Sullivan; Okonkwo Sylvester Onuorah; Obiogbolu Alexander Odikasigbue; Ugokwe Jerry Sonny; Okeke Walter Ubaka and Charles Odunukwe Charles.
Others are Chuba Ikpeazu; Azodo Eucharia Okwunna; Okonkwo Donatus Chukwunonso; Onyema Chuwuka Wilfred; Kramer Agape Ifunayachukwu; Onyenisi Obianuju; Adimachukwu Calista; and Udemba Chinyere.
The national leadership of the PDP had pegged the fee for the forms at N6 million, with Nomination form to cost N5 million while expression of interest form is N1million while announcing the time table for the election of its governorship candidate.
Women are expected to purchase only the Expression of Interest form for N1million only and the nomination form is given to them free in line with the norms of the party, just as the men will pick the Expression of Interest form for N1 million and the Nomination form for N6 Million, amounting to N6 million.
It was gathered that the sale of forms process which started last Thursday, ended on Friday and will climax with the state congress on August 24.
It will be recalled that the PDP national Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur had last week boasted that the party will win the November 16th Anambra State gubernatorial election, adding that the leadership of the party has not anointed any candidate, as all the aspirants would be given a level playing field to contest during the primary. - Vanguard.
