SAN FRANCISCO, July 14, (THEWILL) – Apparently savouring the joy of freedom after 15 years in prison, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, said he had forgiven all those who had a hand in his incarceration.

Al-Mustapha stated this while speaking at the Kano Government House where he had gone immediately after being received at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport at around 12 noon, Sunday, to express his gratitude to the Kano State governor, Mallam Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of well wishers and family members and other friends who were shedding tears of joy on seeing him for the first time since his incarceration, Al-Mustapha said: “It appears to me like a dream.

Way back in 1998 I was here at Kano Government House in tattered cloth with chains all over me and I was then taken to my residence where they searched my house thoroughly. Here I am, the same Al-Mustapha coming to Kano Government House as a free man and with happiness all over my face and the faces of relations, friends and other well wishers.”

Al-Mustapha, who was with his wife, Hajiya Hafsat, and his children, Fatima and Mustapha, was also accompanied by the leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, members of his family and other well wishers.
