Super Falcons Report Hotel Theft Of Over $1,200 In Casablanca, Morocco Ahead Of WAFCON 2026

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reportedly been hit by an unsettling incident ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with several players alleging that money disappeared from their hotel rooms during the team’s training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.

According to reports, a number of squad members discovered cash missing after returning to their rooms at the hotel where the team was lodged before relocating to Rabat for the tournament.

The combined value of the alleged losses is said to be more than $1,200.

Among those reportedly affected are Esther Okoronkwo, team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Joy Omewa and Halimatu Ayinde.

Okoronkwo publicly expressed her frustration on social media, claiming she alerted hotel management but was unhappy with how the matter was handled. She also alleged that the theft occurred while the players were away from their rooms.

As of the time of the reports, neither the hotel management nor the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had released an official statement addressing the allegations.

The incident has sparked concerns over the security of Nigerian national teams while competing abroad, especially following previous reports of similar theft claims involving the Super Eagles during an international competition in Morocco.

Despite the distraction, the Super Falcons remain focused on their quest for another continental title.

Nigeria enters the tournament as the most successful nation in WAFCON history, having won the competition 10 times and would be willing to repeat the victorious scene once again
