Manchester United Agree £50m Deal for Chelsea Midfielder Andrey Santos

Manchester United have strengthened their midfield options after reaching an agreement with Chelsea to sign Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos in a deal worth up to £50 million.

The transfer is understood to include an initial payment of £48 million, with a further £2 million tied to performance-related bonuses.

Chelsea have also secured a 10 percent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

The 22-year-old is expected to undergo a medical before officially completing the move to Old Trafford. His arrival comes at an important time for United, who were eager to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new campaign.

United's need for reinforcements increased following Casemiro's departure at the end of his contract, while Manuel Ugarte is expected to spend several months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.

The club had explored moves for other midfield targets but ultimately turned to Santos after those pursuits proved unsuccessful.

Despite his limited opportunities at Chelsea, Santos has been regarded as one of Brazil's brightest young midfielders.

The London club signed him from Vasco da Gama in 2023, believing he had the potential to become a key player. However, stiff competition for places restricted his first-team appearances.

For Santos, the switch offers the chance to secure regular playing time and continue his development under Manchester United's coaching staff.

His energy, technical ability and composure on the ball are qualities the club believes will strengthen the squad.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are expected to continue reshaping their squad this summer as they balance sporting ambitions with financial planning.

The sale of Santos represents a significant profit and provides additional flexibility as the club prepares for the upcoming season.
