Djokovic Praises Serena's Remarkable Return to Professional Tennis

Novak Djokovic has hailed Serena Williams' return to professional tennis as one of the most inspiring stories in the sport, praising the American legend's determination ahead of her Wimbledon comeback after almost four years away from competitive action.

The Serbian star, who is chasing a record 25th Grand Slam singles title, said Williams' work ethic has impressed everyone preparing for this year's tournament.

According to Djokovic, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has been spending countless hours in training, showing the same drive that made her one of the greatest players in tennis history.

"I see her in the gym more than I have, I think, seen her when she was at her prime," Djokovic said, adding that her commitment proves how serious she is about making a successful return.

Williams, now 44, has accepted a wild-card entry into the Wimbledon singles draw and will also compete in the women's doubles event alongside her sister, Venus Williams.

Her comeback has generated excitement among players and fans eager to watch one of tennis' biggest icons return to the All England Club.

Djokovic also paid tribute to both Serena and Venus for their remarkable contributions to the sport, describing their careers as a source of inspiration for generations of athletes.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka welcomed Williams' return, saying the American legend's presence will attract more attention to tennis.

She added that Serena's decision to compete again, partly to allow her children to see her play, makes her comeback even more special.

If Williams progresses through the draw, she could face defending champion Iga Swiatek in the third round, setting up one of the tournament's most anticipated matches.
