Temitope Adeshina Reaches Bowerman Award Semi-Finals

Nigerian high jumper Temitope Adeshina has moved a step closer to claiming one of the biggest honours in American collegiate athletics after being selected among the 10 women's semi-finalists for the prestigious Bowerman Award.

The recognition follows an exceptional season for the Texas Tech athlete, who has enjoyed remarkable success in both the indoor and outdoor NCAA campaigns.

Her consistent performances earned her a place on the shortlist for the award presented annually to the top male and female athletes in U.S. collegiate track and field.

Adeshina has been one of the standout performers this season, completing an unbeaten campaign in the high jump.

She successfully defended her NCAA indoor title by clearing 1.97 metres, a jump that ranked among the best in collegiate history and further established her reputation as one of the event's leading competitors.

She carried that impressive form into the outdoor season, where she added another NCAA title after recording a best clearance of 1.96 metres. Her performances also saw her finish among the nation's top-ranked high jumpers.

The Nigerian recently received another major honour after being named the USTFCCCA Female Athlete of the Year, underlining her dominance throughout the collegiate season.

Adeshina will now compete with nine other outstanding athletes from leading universities across the United States for a place among the finalists.

The list features athletes who have broken collegiate records and captured multiple NCAA titles in their respective events.

The next stage of the selection process will see the finalists announced on June 29. The overall winners of the Bowerman Award are expected to be revealed in December during the USTFCCCA Convention in Grapevine, Texas.

Should Adeshina progress further, it would mark another significant milestone in her rapidly rising athletics career and strengthen her status as one of Nigeria's brightest track and field stars.
