Premier League 2026/27: Arsenal Host Coventry, Liverpool Face Newcastle in Opening Weekend

The Premier League has released the fixtures for the 2026/27 season, setting up an exciting opening weekend that features several standout clashes, including Arsenal’s title defence against newly promoted Coventry and Liverpool’s tricky away trip to Newcastle.

Arsenal, who begin the campaign as defending champions after their first league title since 2004, will kick off their season at home on August 21 against Coventry.

The Midlands club return to the top flight for the first time in 25 years after a strong Championship campaign last season.

The fixture is expected to draw major attention as Mikel Arteta’s side aim to start their title defence on a strong note.

Liverpool, under new manager Andoni Iraola, will begin their Premier League journey with a tough test away at Newcastle on August 23.

Iraola will be hoping to make an early statement in his first league game in charge as the Reds begin a new era following managerial changes.

Elsewhere, Manchester City also begin a new chapter after Pep Guardiola’s departure, hosting Bournemouth on the same day. Reports suggest former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca could take over at the Etihad as City enter a rebuilding phase.

Chelsea, now led by Xabi Alonso, will start their campaign with a west London derby away at Fulham on August 24, adding extra intensity to their opening fixture.

Promoted sides Hull City and Ipswich also face tough starts, with Hull hosting Manchester United and Ipswich welcoming Sunderland.

The fixture list also promises key early-season clashes later in the calendar, including Manchester derby, Liverpool vs Manchester United, and Arsenal vs Chelsea.

The 2026/27 season has been scheduled later than usual due to the FIFA World Cup, but excitement is already building ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive Premier League campaign.
