Real Madrid Sign Ibrahima Konaté on Four-Year Deal From Liverpool

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté on a four-year contract, bringing an end to his successful spell at Anfield following the expiration of his deal.

The Spanish giants announced the transfer on Thursday, stating that the 27-year-old centre-back has agreed terms that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2030.

Konaté joins Los Blancos as part of a summer rebuild aimed at strengthening their defensive line after a trophyless run in recent seasons.

Konaté initially joined Liverpool in 2021 from RB Leipzig and went on to make 183 appearances for the club. During his time in England, he played a key role in Liverpool’s domestic success, including their Premier League triumph in 2025 and FA Cup victory in 2022. His consistency and physical presence made him one of the most reliable defenders in the squad.

The France international is currently away on World Cup duty, but his move to Madrid had already been finalized after months of speculation linking him with several top European clubs. Real Madrid eventually won the race for his signature, ahead of interest from other elite teams.

At Madrid, Konaté is expected to add depth and experience to a defence undergoing transition. The club has already made several high-profile additions, as they continue to rebuild under their new sporting direction.

His arrival also comes at a time when Real Madrid are reshaping their squad after losing key players and enduring back-to-back seasons without major silverware.

Fans will now look forward to seeing how quickly he adapts to life in Spain and partners with the existing defensive core.
