Edo Queens Crowned NWFL Champions for Second Time

Edo Queens have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) for the 2025/26 season after a tense and closely contested playoff series in Port Harcourt.

The Benin City-based team secured the title following a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bayelsa Queens in their final match, a result that proved enough to push them to the top of the standings.

Moses Aduku’s side finished the playoffs with 10 points from five matches, showing consistency and resilience throughout the competition.

Their disciplined performances across the tournament ultimately earned them the league crown for a second time in their history.

Bayelsa Queens finished as runners-up with eight points after a strong campaign but fell short in the decisive moments that could have swung the title race in their favour.

Nasarawa Amazons also missed out on the championship after being held to a goalless draw by Rivers Angels, a result that ended their hopes of climbing to the top of the table.

The NWFL playoff series once again highlighted the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria, with several clubs pushing each other closely until the final round of matches.

For Edo Queens, the triumph marks another major achievement and reinforces their status as one of the strongest sides in Nigerian women’s football, built on discipline, organisation, and consistent performances throughout the season.
