Done Deal: Schalke 04 Sign Nigerian Striker Junior Adamu Until 2029

Schalke 04 have officially completed the signing of Nigerian-born forward Junior Adamu, marking a significant addition to their attacking options ahead of the new season.

The Bundesliga club confirmed that the striker has put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at the Veltins-Arena until June 2029.

Adamu arrives from SC Freiburg after a spell that included a productive loan stint at Scottish Premiership side Celtic, where he impressed with consistent performances and played an important role in helping the club secure a domestic double.

His form across competitions has made him one of the most closely followed young forwards in recent seasons.

Schalke’s sporting director, Youri Mulder, expressed strong confidence in the club’s new signing, highlighting his work rate, tactical intelligence, and versatility in attack.

According to him, Adamu fits well into Schalke’s playing philosophy, especially due to his ability to make intelligent runs, press high, and create space for teammates in advanced positions.

The club believes the 25-year-old brings both energy and flexibility to the squad, as he is capable of playing across multiple attacking roles.

His movement off the ball and willingness to contribute defensively were also key factors in Schalke’s decision to secure his signature ahead of other interested clubs.

Speaking after completing the move, Adamu described the transfer as an important step in his career. He said the confidence shown by the club’s management and the clarity of their football project played a major role in his decision to join.

He also expressed excitement about playing in front of Schalke’s passionate supporters.

With this transfer, Schalke 04 aim to strengthen their attacking depth as they look to improve their domestic performance and compete more effectively in the Bundesliga.
