Ndidi Fires Warning To Portugal Ahead Of Friendly Clash
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has expressed confidence ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Portugal, insisting that the team is not intimidated by the reputation of their opponents.
The highly anticipated encounter will take place in Leiria, where Portugal are expected to enjoy strong home support and enter the match as favourites. Despite facing a squad packed with world-class talent, the Nigerian captain believes his side has enough quality and belief to compete at the highest level.
Ndidi stressed that the Super Eagles are focused on their own performance rather than the status of the opposition. According to the midfielder, the players remain committed to executing the tactics and ideas introduced by head coach Eric Chelle.
Nigeria will head into the game without several key stars, including Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. However, Ndidi maintained that the absence of some regular starters does not diminish the team’s determination to secure a positive result.
The Besiktas midfielder noted that unity within the squad remains one of the team’s greatest strengths. He added that every player understands the responsibility of representing the country and is eager to prove himself on the international stage.
Portugal boast a number of experienced stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, but Ndidi believes the Super Eagles have what it takes to challenge any team in world football.
The friendly will provide both nations with an opportunity to assess their preparations and test different tactical approaches ahead of future competitive fixtures.
