Chelsea Release Four Players After Contract Decision
Chelsea have confirmed that four academy graduates will leave the club at the end of June following the expiration of their contracts.
The Premier League side announced the departures in an official statement released on Wednesday, bringing an end to the players’ long associations with the West London club.
Among those set to leave is defender Brodi Hughes, who spent over a decade at Chelsea after joining the academy as a youngster.
During his time at Cobham, Hughes progressed through several youth levels and was regarded as one of the club’s dedicated academy products.
Richard Olise will also move on after years within Chelsea’s youth setup. Having joined at a very young age, the midfielder represented the club across multiple age categories and earned recognition with involvement in first-team activities during previous campaigns.
Finnish midfielder Jimi Tauriainen is another player heading for the exit door. Since arriving at Chelsea in 2020, he developed through the academy ranks and gained valuable experience around the senior squad, including being selected in a matchday squad for a major domestic cup final.
The fourth player departing is Sam Rak-Sakyi, who joined Chelsea’s academy as a child and eventually broke into the senior team. He made a handful of appearances for the Blues and was considered a promising talent within the club’s development structure.
Chelsea thanked all four players for their commitment and contributions during their time at Stamford Bridge and wished them success in the next stages of their football careers.
