I Have No Regrets Choosing Nigeria Ahead of 100th Cap - Alex Iwobi

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed deep gratitude and pride as he prepares to reach a major milestone in his international career, marking his 100th appearance for Nigeria.

Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Portugal in Leiria, Iwobi said he has no regrets about choosing to represent Nigeria at senior level, describing it as one of the best decisions of his life.

The midfielder, known for his creativity and composure in midfield, said wearing the green and white jersey has always felt like home.

Iwobi made his Super Eagles debut in October 2015 during a friendly match against DR Congo in Belgium. Nearly a decade later, he is set to join the elite group of Nigerian players who have reached 100 international caps.

Reflecting on his journey, Iwobi explained that his time with the national team has been filled with memorable highs, including crucial goals and important qualification moments.

He highlighted his goal against Zambia in 2017, which helped Nigeria secure a place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as his most unforgettable moment in a Super Eagles shirt.

The midfielder also acknowledged missing out on winning major trophies like the Africa Cup of Nations and competing in more World Cup tournaments but insisted he holds no regrets about his international career.

Iwobi’s father, Barrister Chuka Iwobi, also praised his son’s commitment and dedication to the national team, describing his journey as one filled with pride and consistency over the years.

As he approaches the 100-cap milestone, Iwobi continues to be regarded as one of Nigeria’s most reliable and experienced midfielders, with expectations high for him to maintain his influence in the team moving forward.
