Marseille Join Race to Sign Nigerian Striker Akor Adams
French Ligue 1 side Marseille have entered the race to sign Nigerian striker Akor Adams, as the forward continues to attract growing interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old Sevilla striker is enjoying a strong resurgence after a difficult start to life in Spain. Following his January move from Montpellier, Adams initially struggled to make an impact, ending his first half-season without a goal or assist.
However, the 2025/26 campaign saw a dramatic turnaround in form. The Nigerian international went on to score 10 goals and provide three assists in 32 appearances, becoming one of Sevilla’s most reliable attacking options during a challenging season in La Liga.
His improved performances have now placed him on the radar of several clubs across Europe and beyond, with interest reported from England and Saudi Arabia in addition to Marseille’s latest move.
The French club are believed to be preparing an offer in the region of €18 million as they look to strengthen their squad for a serious push in both domestic and European competitions next season.
Sevilla, however, are holding out for a higher fee, reportedly closer to €25 million, although financial pressures within the Spanish club could influence negotiations.
Adams’ previous experience in French football with Montpellier is seen as a major advantage for Marseille, as it could allow for a smoother adaptation if a deal is reached.
With multiple clubs monitoring his situation, Sevilla may soon face a key decision on whether to cash in or retain one of their in-form attackers.
