Super Eagles star Uche wins UEFA Conference League Goal of the Season

Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has been named the winner of the UEFA Europa Conference League Fans’ Goal of the Season award for the 2025/26 campaign, following widespread voting from supporters across Europe.

Uche earned the prestigious recognition for his brilliant solo effort during Crystal Palace’s 2-2 draw against Finnish side KuPS Kuopio in December 2025.

The goal stood out for its technical quality, balance, and execution under pressure, making it one of the most talked-about moments of the competition.

The Nigeria international produced a moment of individual brilliance after collecting the ball just outside the penalty area.

He calmly glided past his marker with a sharp piece of footwork before unleashing a perfectly curled trivela shot that left the goalkeeper helpless as it flew into the net. The strike quickly went viral and remained a strong contender throughout the voting period.

Uche’s goal was one of two he scored during Crystal Palace’s successful Conference League run, marking a memorable contribution to the club’s European campaign despite limited opportunities later in the season.

In the final standings for the award, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Isaque Silva finished second with an impressive overhead kick against Lech Poznań.

Rayo Vallecano defender Florian Lejeune secured third place with a powerful long-range strike, while Samsunspor’s Aboubakary Koita came fourth for his solo effort against AEK Athens. Rayo Vallecano’s Alemao completed the top five with another fine finish from distance.

Despite his success in Europe, Uche’s season at Crystal Palace had its challenges. After joining from Getafe on loan last summer, the 23-year-old struggled for consistent playing time and was eventually left out of Palace’s Conference League squad in the second half of the campaign.

He made 14 league appearances for the Premier League side but was unable to register a goal or assist, making his European highlight a standout moment in an otherwise difficult season.
