Man City Dismiss Reports Linking Haaland to Real Madrid
Manchester City have firmly dismissed reports linking striker Erling Haaland with a move to Real Madrid, insisting there is no clause in the Norwegian's contract that would allow him to leave the club this summer.
The Premier League champions were responding to comments made by Enrique Riquelme, one of the candidates contesting to become Real Madrid's next president.
Riquelme had publicly stated that he would attempt to bring both Haaland and Spanish midfielder Rodri to the Santiago Bernabeu if elected.
The presidential hopeful also claimed that Haaland's current contract contains a release clause that could make a transfer possible. However, Manchester City have strongly denied the suggestion.
In an official response, the club described the reports emerging from Spain as false and insisted there is no agreement in Haaland's contract that would facilitate a move to Madrid.
City also stressed that the striker remains an important part of their plans and that there is no possibility of the transfer taking place.
The English champions further revealed that they are considering legal action over the use of Haaland's image in connection with the election campaign and transfer claims.
Haaland has been one of City's key players since joining the club, helping them win major domestic and European honours. His performances have regularly attracted interest from Europe's biggest clubs, with Real Madrid frequently mentioned as a potential destination.
Despite the speculation, Manchester City remain confident that the prolific forward will continue his career at the Etihad Stadium, with the club determined to shut down rumours regarding his future.
