Rio Ngumoha Earns England World Cup Training Camp Call-Up
Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha has been invited to join the England national team’s pre-World Cup training camp as Thomas Tuchel begins preparations for the tournament scheduled to hold in the United States.
The 17-year-old forward will be part of a small group of young players selected to train with the senior squad during their camp in Florida.
The decision, according to Tuchel, is aimed at maintaining squad balance while also giving emerging talents exposure to top-level international football.
Ngumoha has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Liverpool, making notable contributions in the Premier League and earning praise for his maturity in front of goal.
He has also featured in other major competitions for the club, further establishing himself as one of the most promising young attackers in English football.
Tuchel explained that the inclusion of players like Ngumoha is part of a broader plan to assess depth options ahead of the World Cup, as well as manage workload during friendly matches scheduled in the build-up to the tournament.
Despite his involvement with England at youth levels, Ngumoha remains eligible to represent Nigeria at senior international level, a detail that has continued to attract attention given his rapid rise in club football.
His recent performances, including a historic Premier League goal that made him Liverpool’s youngest scorer, have further boosted his reputation. He also made headlines after becoming the youngest Liverpool player to feature in the UEFA Champions League.
England’s training camp will run for nearly two weeks, featuring friendly matches as Tuchel fine-tunes his final squad for the World Cup kickoff in mid-June.
