Maduka Okoye Shines As He Makes Serie A Team Of The Week

Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has continued his impressive rise in Italy after being included in the Serie A Team of the Week following a commanding display for Udinese.

The 26-year-old was in superb form as Udinese stunned AC Milan with a convincing 3-0 victory at the San Siro, one of the most difficult venues in Italian football. His performance between the posts played a major role in securing all three points for his side.

Okoye produced a series of important saves throughout the match, frustrating Milan’s attacking stars and keeping a clean sheet in a high-pressure encounter.

Among his key stops were efforts from experienced midfielder Luka Modric, as well as attempts from Alexis Saelemaekers and Youssouf Fofana.

The performance marked his third consecutive clean sheet, highlighting his growing consistency and confidence in goal. It is also the first time in his career that he has achieved such a run at this level.

His outstanding display earned him a place in the Serie A Team of the Week for the second time this season, further underlining his importance to Udinese’s strong defensive record.

Okoye was not the only Udinese player recognised, as teammate Jurgen Ekkelenkamp also made the selection, reflecting the team’s collective brilliance in the victory over the Rossoneri.

The Nigerian international has gradually established himself as a key figure for Udinese since joining the club, and his recent form is expected to boost his standing both domestically and internationally.

Meanwhile, attention now shifts to Udinese’s upcoming league fixture against Parma at the Bluenergy Stadium, where Okoye will look to maintain his impressive run of form and extend his clean sheet streak.

There are also reports that his parent club, Sparta Rotterdam, are keen to see him return early from international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, highlighting how valuable he has become to their long-term plans.
